It’s a Grays Harbor call to arms – arms with hands that can wield paintbrushes that is.
NeighborWorks® of Grays Harbor is partnering with Grays Harbor Vision 2020 to organize a one-day painting event on Saturday, June 19.
We need teams of volunteers who can help paint the homes of those in our community who are in need. We would love for you to join us to make a difference and improve our community.
The event, Paint the Corridor, includes painting 20 or more qualified homeowner-occupied homes along the corridor between Aberdeen and Hoquiam on Simpson and Sumner avenues on June 19. The Paul Stritmatter Family of Hoquiam and Kelly-Moore Paint have provided the paint for this opportunity.
By boosting the appearance of our corridor, we are hoping to inspire our neighbors to do the same to their homes and make our cities better, and more beautiful, places to live. Places we are proud of.
“We want to create a spark and get people excited again,” said Ron Pinnick, community director of Vision 2020. “We want it to become a contagious thing to help improve our area.”
We are looking for teams of volunteers who can prep houses, paint houses, project sponsors and those who could donate things like food, T-shirts and other amenities to make our project a success.
“Please call if you can help prep a house before the event or paint a house with others on the third Saturday in June,” Dave Murnen, the executive director of NeighborWorks® of Grays Harbor, said. “Or, better yet, gather five to 25 coworkers or friends from your business, neighborhood, organization, club or church and then give us a call with your ready-made team. The corridor (is) our shared community face and we need to pay attention to it.”
To volunteer or donate to the event, call NeighborWorks® at (360) 533-7828.
